Digital Arts

Avco has been involved in the digital arts since the early 1990s, both directors being founding members of 'Mute' Digital Arts and Technology magazine.

Between 1999 and 2001 we curated and facilitated the 'TakeAway' section of the BBC arts website.

We have pioneered the use of computers in the wall display of contemporary art, conceiving of the packaging of small computers with LCD screens. These wall units were originally commissioned by Julian Opie and designed and built by hardware supplier 'Torch Computers', Cambridge. These have been successfully used for editions by Julian Opie, Michael Craig-Martin and Stefan Gec.
